About Us

Thorpe’s Bakery is a well-established, family-run home bakery based in Burton Lazars, Melton Mowbray. Operated solely by husband-and-wife team Katie and Steve, we hold a 5-star food hygiene rating and pride ourselves on crafting high-quality, handmade bakes with care, consistency, and a personal touch.

 

After years spent perfecting our recipes, we officially launched in September 2022, starting with humble sales via social media - we still recall the excitement of receiving our very first order for a box of four millionaire shortbreads! Since then, we've grown steadily through word of mouth and glowing customer feedback, with many declaring our bakes to be the finest they’ve ever tasted. In 2023, we began supplying local coffee shops, March House Farm in Great Dalby and Hill Top Farm in Melton Mowbray. April 2024 marked the launch of our website, opening the door for customers to order our bakes nationwide. Our postal brownies, postal blondies, postal flapjacks and mixed treat box continue to be a popular choice.

 

We offer a wide selection of premium baked goods, all made using high quality ingredients. Our range includes brownies, blondies, tiffins, flapjacks, millionaire shortbread, cookies, scones, cupcakes, sponge cakes, and celebration cakes. We also provide an assortment of treat boxes, plaques, sharing boxes, dessert tables, grazing tables, cupcake stacks, and a bespoke catering pod for hire.

 

Thorpe’s Bakery caters to private occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and christenings, as well as corporate events and community functions. You’ll find us regularly at local markets, including the Melton Mowbray Farmers Market, as well as prominent events, fairs and festivals across Leicestershire and Rutland.

 

To support our growth, we’ve invested in a custom-designed catering pod—professionally wrapped to reflect our branding—which allows us to serve refrigerated bakes at events with style and efficiency. The response has been fantastic, and we’re excited to expand our presence across more private hires and public events.
